ANZAC Weekend

 We had the boys overnight.
Went to the Historic Village for brunch and to look around. Lewis got into the army vibe.
It caught on.
Lots of fun backgrounds and great actors.
Rob and the boys.
Then to McLaren Falls lake to catch the autumn colour.

My ANZAC Day

I remembered the people in our family that served in WW2
My dad (North Africa and Italy 3 years)

My mum. Served in NZ 3 years.
This is them in later years.
My uncle Jack. (with me) Served in North Africa.
Robs dad, Jim. Served overseas but I need more info.

I went to the water front to watch the sunrise

Then watched the Auckland ANZAC memorial parade on TV.

Nelson 4 of 4

Rob heading up the Church Steps.
The old boy.
Rob trying to work off the massive dinner she ate. (she will kill me for that). Tahunanui beach has an amazing entertainment park and well worth a visit. Link
Nelson has a very artistic element that adds to the vibe of the place. I love the impact of rounding a corner and wow there is a work of art just right there.
A now, very old picture theatre, which is the only one in town.  Built in the art decor style it does have a certain charm.
The Cathedral. The stained glass windows are beautiful when viewed from inside.
In the background. The Vic. (painted white) A very well known pub. It's come alive in the evenings. Fairly dead at 7am😊

Nelson 3 of 4

A beautiful monument on the bank of the Maitai river.
On my early morning walk along Trafalgar Street. The bell tower of the Christ Church Cathedral (Nelson Anglican Cathedral)in the background. Several cafes, restaurants and pubs are located here and it's a central mostly traffic free zone. Great beer and food.

Entertainment. Low key early in the evening.
Lambretta's on Hardy street.
Probably the busiest breakfast and lunch place in Nelson. Service and food are excellent. We have been coming here for many years, when we visit.

Nelson 2 of 4

Great coffee down at the Nelson marina. I was there early but it soon got extremely busy. The service is great and the staff very friendly. A relaxed atmosphere for sure.
The Grampians Transmission Tower in the distance.
A Nelson icon.
Unfortunately I could not take pictures inside but this is the gate entrance sign of a really cool bar in Collingwood Street. You can easily miss it as it's located behind a large hedge. It's an old church with lots of outside seating. Kid friendly too.

Nelson Visit 1of 4

We took a few days to nip down to Nelson, we love it there. One of our goals was to walk to the top of the Grampians to the transmission to tower, we nailed that on day one. We checked out a few well known spots and revisited the Glenn where I lived as a a kid before moving to Tauranga.

This may take a couple of blogs to show the pics.

That's us sitting on the 'beach' at the Glenn. Yon need more than a beach towel.

It's hard to believe the old place we lived in is still there, and just as I recall from 70 years ago as a 6 year old kid. Its the small place with the red brick chimney. Its sitting up the hill less than 50 meters from the beach.
