Beehive Wellington

I have never seen this perspective.
These three granite block shapes are said to represent a birds head, a waka and an alter.
They can be found at the bottom of The Terrace across Bowen St

Working Boats Port Of Tauranga

Our new tug Tai Pari (Chinese made) pushes the bow of the Asian Adonis
While one of our older Tugs, Sir Robert, stands by at the stern of the incoming ship.

By The Stream

I bike past this little scene many times a year. But I have not stopped to see just how lovely it is.
Why? Well most things that are close to home are taken for granted.

And The Shadows

Wonder if they miss Cliff?

1917

Old war posters from these WW1 times tell an insightful story of the pressure and guilt the population was under to get engaged in the war effort. Not all were that hard hitting. For example

Old Whiskers

This time of year the seals come in to take a rest and warm up on the rocks around the Mount area.
Well that is until curious and annoying photographers stumble over them.
Sorry mate. Back to sleep.....

Grace Today

We went to breakfast, them purchased a book for G then went to the Mount, went out to the blowhole, checked out the Seals and had a Gelato.
Awesome fun.

Pied Oystercatchers heading (well how do I know?)....
But a lovely sight down on the Matua mudflats.

Fishing But Different

Note waders, and small trolley, with all the gear, that floats once in the water.
This gentleman fishes the local Tilby channel and Matua area on a regular basis.
He wades way out into near chest deep water and casts lures. I must have a chat one day soon and see how well he does.

Parked

We stopped on the Desert road to watch the storm clouds coming in and take a few pictures

Desert Road

The Desert Road view of Mt Ruapehu
Like it or not the pylons are part of the scene looking from the road toward the mountain.
To me they look like the machines from mars in the War of The Worlds marching across the landscape.
