The Cook. A Little Saga.

So while the BBQ is doing its thing with the sausages, time for a quiet beer and a kick around.

This is good....skills. Even the ball is pleased.
But what's that smell?

Bloody hell the bangers are on fire!

Clowns

Well the front one fits the bill.
Thomas drafts Dad and awaits the inevitable blow up (or blow off....) and opportunity to pass in style.

Oh No!

It's been a beautiful day and one perfect for taking a walk which we did. Only to return to the car and find this!
Lucky for me it was a nice young guy who got distracted by talking to a mate while backing! But he left me a note and also returned to front up about it.
Now for the repair drama because its a lot worse than it looks. The panel extends over the roof and also the entire bumper is involved.

Kaimai Range Snow

Just to prove we did get snow. That's the whitish dust on the tops.
It lasted all of 20 minutes after the sun hit it.
Taken from our lounge.

Mount Beach Mid Winter

In just a few months time this beach will be peopled out!

Something Different

You may need to be in the mood to enjoy this. I think many of us can relate to different aspects of this little interview, or maybe all of it.

Guess Who Pinched The World Cup?

Fresh from the London riots these two with familiar faces got lucky again in good old NZ
and smuggled it (the cup silly) back to their garage and now spend their nights cleaning and hugging it.
Strange I know.

Soy Food & Mens Health

Anyone that knows we are eating a whole foods plant based diet ask us things like "where do you get your protein?" and "Isn't soy (we have soy beans occasionally and soy milk in coffee) bad especially for men?"
The web is full of stories and news about soy and its true there has been a lot of negative press. Lately there seems to be a swing toward saying soy is fine. This video summarises the latest findings I've been reading nicely. Yes its from the soy council and therefore could be very biased. Worth a look if you have an interest.

Tauranga 1922

Rob and I first met in the Star in the 70's and this was the place we met up with our mates for many years.
This is also the place I used to go in my teens when the drinking age was 21 and closing time was 6pm!
Note the phone number....6!
The Masonic is also a well known hotel from our youth.
Hard to imagine pubs today lasting 50 to 70 years.
Click on this to see a large and readable version. Its a real estate agents spin on Tauranga in 1922.
Nothing has changed with that profession!

So Called "Legal" graffiti.

Colourful but do they need encouragement?

Tauranga 1922

I was lucky enough to be loaned a New Zealand Directory from 1922.
More to come from this. Check out the building in the right hand top corner. When I was a kid that was still there and was a business called Judd's Radio. First place in Tauranga to sell TV's! We used to go there and watch the TV in the shop window along with about 20 other families! Black and white of course and the reception was something like looking through a snow storm. As for the ferry service well that became known as Faulkner's Ferries and these ran for decades.
