I was involved in the formulation, manufacture and application of corrosion protection coatings on this bridge almost 40 years ago. Basically lived at the site.
Recently our company was again asked to provide our coating system to continue the protection. Naturally I just had to revisit the 110 year old girl.
She spans the mighty Waikato River
The actual deck was replaced some 30 years ago but the heavy bolted steel structures are all original.
