Tauranga Hotel

In recent years called the Grumpy Mole a pub night club where many of our kids spent their nights and early mornings.
The history of this site goes way back in European terms to 1872 when Tauranga's first hotel was opened and called Bennett's Tauranga Family & Commercial Hotel. This original wooden structure burnt down in 1879 and a new wooden building was erected and called Tauranga Hotel. This building was also destroyed by fire and a new concrete structure was built and opened in 1937 as Tauranga Hotel and this is the structure being gutted in the picture below ready for demolition.
The new structure in the bottom picture is the new three story development that is to be built on the site.
